  • Special features regarding teaching
    The fundamentals of biology are presented in their complete breadth as part of a series of lectures which is currently oriented around the current version of the "Campbell" Biology textbook. This textbook was written and published by the teaching staff in the Biology department in Osnabrück. Further training is oriented around the focus of Collaborative Research Centre – Physiology and Dynamics of Cellular Microcompartments.
  • Special features regarding the international orientation
    Erasmus with cooperation universities in Poland, Finland, France, Spain, Turkey; Summer school; International contacts of the working groups; International Master's degree course "Nanosciences".
  • Special features regarding research activities
    Biology is in the third funding period for the SFB 944. Inaugurated in 2017, the CellNanOs research building with 1500 m³ of main floor space features twelve high-performance microscopes, as well as novel microscopes being developed on site and mass spectroscopy. 35 research groups from biology, chemistry and physics as well as mathematics and cognitive science are involved and use the Integrated Bioimaging Facility Osnabrück.
