Special features regarding teachingSome of the faculty's teaching personnel participate in the joint project "HD-MINT" to further improve study conditions in MINT subjects; this concerns a federal/state programme for better study conditions and greater quality in teaching (see http://www.oth-aw.de/hochschule/qualitaet_der_lehre/qualitaetspakt_lehre/hd_mint/); Small study groups, good tutor-student ratio; "Open learning workshop" (university support service); Departmental tutor programme to acquire and retain for the longer term suitable student tutors
Special features regarding the equipment19 specialist laboratories in the "electrical engineering, media and computer science" department for basic research & application, with the latest technical facilities for practical training in small groups; This includes a new "media informatics laboratory", and a separate laboratory for practice-oriented software projects (e.g. for industrial computing) with recently modernised and state-of-the-art technical facilities; Mobile robots and sophisticated equipment for current R&D projects.
Other special featuresAs "IT architects", the technical equipment enables students to programme clear software structures, using modern software technologies and with the integration of software and hardware to robust complete systems. Computer Science engineers implement their analytical, creative and communication skills in equal measure in order to solve challenging tasks in high-tech development or in IT projects which are often international. With the available technology state-of-the-art, there are excellent career prospects in the design of industrial IT processes.
