Further information provided by the department

  • Special features regarding teaching
Strong inter-disciplinary character through the cooperation of teachers in the research centres "Zentrum für medizinische Biotechnologie" (Centre for Medical Biotechnology) and "Zentrum für Wasser- und Umweltforschung" (Centre for Water and Environmental Research). Many (Master's) degree courses are directly organised in cooperation with other faculties. This includes the Faculties of Medicine, Chemistry and Engineering. Dual degree courses are designed in cooperation with other universities (Ruhr Universität Bochum, Radboud University in Nijmegen). Many newly appointed professors in the last 5 years; Degree courses have been developed for the Bachelor's/Master's system, there were no prior degrees
  • Other special features
All students at the faculty are provided with virtual machines (VMs) and computing resources regardless of location, time and hardware/software. This allows students to use software and data from the faculty at any time via VMs without any additional effort and costs. The access software is available for free for all platforms (Windows, MacOS, IOS, Linux, Android). If no own hardware is available, client systems can be borrowed for free (even for longer periods).
