Special features regarding teachingThe Hochschule Aalen has close links with the region and a wide international network. This is reflected in an exchange programme, dual degrees etc. Both study abroad and internships abroad are encouraged. Special support programmes (especially for language learning) are in place for incoming students from abroad looking to spend time in Aalen for a limited time.

Special features regarding the equipmentThe computer science degree course has several computer pools at its disposal that are fitted with the operating systems MS-Windows, Apple-OS X and Linux. Virtualization tools are available to offer special systems. The laboratories are equipped with the tools for cryptography and hacking, (technical) internet-based systems, software engineering, image processing, virtual reality etc. The pools and laboratories are regularly updated and modernised. The library of the Hochschule Aalen provides university-wide access to subject-specific databases.
Support for foundersStudent start-ups are supported through the innovation centre on the university campus. It offers a modern infrastructure and expertise relating to all aspects of business start-ups: https://www.hs-aalen.de/de/facilities/69 ; These are often in software, a field in which start-ups require a relatively small amount of capital. The elective options include lectures such as “Innovative business models for start-ups” or “General business administration”, which are especially important for setting up a new business.
Characteristics of assistance to differently abled personsIt is possible for students with permanent health impairments to take written exams orally or to be assigned a scribe. The length of examinations and study periods can also be adjusted. The entire faculty building is accessible.
Characteristics of diversity advancementThe aims and provisions in relation to gender mainstreaming are embedded in the university’s equal opportunity plan. Specific provisions are discussed on a case-by-case basis where necessary. Advancement of academically gifted students is possible e.g. through participation in research projects.
