    In 2015, a new research and lecture hall building was occupied; the complex also contains a laboratory building of the Department "Life, Light, Matter" of the Interdisciplinary Faculty. Equipment: Ultra-short pulse laser systems including pulse formation, high resolution laser spectroscopy, scanning microscope with atomic resolution, low temperature cryostate bath, helium (nano-)droplet isolation spectroscopy, preparation lab, high performance computing cluster.

    Projects in the Department "Life, Light, Matter" of the Interdisciplinary Faculty; Three Leibniz Institutes: Atmospheric physics (Kühlungsborn), Baltic Sea research (Warnemünde), plasma research and technology (Greifswald); DFG priority programmes: Giant Interactions in Rydberg Systems (GiRyd), Quantum Dynamics in Tailored Intense Fields, Research Group: Matter Under Planetary Interior Conditions.

    The University's Centre for Entrepreneurship supports academics and students at every stage of their start-up project: Starting with the evaluation and structuring of ideas and concepts, up to the support in the formal and organisational implementation of the company foundation. The business model is reviewed and evaluated, and assistance is provided in the preparation of the business plan. UR offers courses in foundation studies, elective in the non-physics elective area of our degree courses.
