  • Special features regarding teaching
    The Pharmacy course in Erlangen is characterised by its high academic demands and the close supervision of students. This applies to both the personal contact between teaching staff and students, as well as the support by student tutors and the individual guidance our students receive from the study coordinator or the dean of studies.   • Special features regarding the international orientation
    The international orientation is evident in the worldwide cooperation with numerous international research institutions as well as in the numerous international scientific guest lectures. In addition, the department of Chemistry and Pharmacy has many Erasmus partnerships with internationally renowned universities.
  • Special features regarding the equipment
    Pharmacy in Erlangen is equipped with state-of-the-art scientific equipment which meets the highest standards in teaching and research. Medical Chemistry: High-field NMR (600 MHz), LC-MS analysis, UHPLC-MS-MS, high-resolution MS, synthesis machines, high-performance computers, Plate Reader, Biacore; Pharmaceutical Technology: Technical centre for drug manufacture, particle formation processes, freeze dryer, spray dryer, acoustic levitator, protein analysis; Molecular and clinical pharmacy: Calcium imaging, patch clamp, biochemical, pharmacological and molecular-biological assays.

  • Support for founders
    Start-up advice on campus: Aspiring founders can make use of advisory services available directly in the Department of Chemistry and Pharmacy for setting up their business. Anyone interested can contact the start-up service of the departmental office. The university also offers comprehensive advisory services and information on start-ups and patent issues through its Contact Office for Knowledge and Technology Transfer. The city of Erlangen is home to "medical valley", a modern start-up and innovation centre, where workspaces are available for rent.

    Academic support through the Student Service Centre, study coordinator and dean of studies; individual mentoring as required for students with disabilities or chronic conditions; Disadvantage compensation for examinations; advice through the student advice and counselling service of the University of Erlangen-Nürnberg, provision of an adapted and accessible lab workspace in the new Chemistry research building.
  • Characteristics of diversity advancement
    The academic and non-academic staff and the students in the Department of Chemistry and Pharmacy come from many different countries. The working language in the research labs can therefore also be English. In line with the guiding principle of the Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg, no-one shall be disadvantaged on the basis of gender, nationality, religious affiliation, social background or disability.

    Support for doctorates at the Emil Fischer Graduate School; Student Service Centre is available. In the recently opened Chemikum both students and staff find excellent working conditions in modern and state-of-the-art laboratories.
