Special features regarding teachingMedicine meets Pharmacy" seminar and accompanying OSCE (Objective Structured Clinical Examinations). Research-oriented elective internships, which can also be completed externally, e.g. partner university in Wuhan, pharmaceutical companies, etc. Introduction of Virtual Reality in teaching within the pharmaceutical formulation practical course. Tutorials in preparation for the first examination section of the Pharmaceutical Examination (State Examination). Topic-related excursions to pharmaceutical companies as part of courses. Study buddy programme for student entry and organisation.

Special features regarding the international orientationLarge international student and doctoral exchange programme: ERASMUS partnerships with many locations; cooperation agreement with Huazhong University of Science and Technology, Tongji Medical College, Faculty of Pharmacy; stays abroad in USA (Utah) and China (Wuhan); possibility of stays abroad outside exchange programs.

Special features regarding research activitiesDFG-Heisenberg-Professorship; participation in LOEWE-Synmikro with two AGs; participation in LOEWE Druid (with 6 AGs); LOEWE Glue (Sprecherschaft FB Pharmazie, participation with 6 AGs; intensive exchange with the pharmaceutical industry (info days, minisymposia, etc.); participation in EU collaborative projects and other research networks; research-active history of pharmacy; main focus: Neuroscience (e.g. EU consortium "EpiMiRNA"), anti-infectives, tumour and inflammation.

Support for foundersStart-ups from individual research groups are supported by the department by providing premises or infrastructure in the start-up phase (e.g. BMBF Exist scholarship); TransMIT centre participations are also supported. Furthermore, the Philipps University has an Institute for Innovation Research and Business Start-Up Promotion (MAFEX), which offers consultations and lecture series on all aspects of business start-ups. The department continues to support the working groups in their participation in idea competitions (e.g. Science4Life).
