Special features regarding teachingNo course entrance restrictions (Numerus Clausus); inter-disciplinary course offering; enrolment for the winter semester or summer semester; alternation between pure and applied Computer Science possible; easy to change between the degree courses thanks to modularisation; course in "AI" with specialisations in Bio-Sciences, Engineering Science and Environmental Informatics with high application component; Teaching Qualification in Computer Science with many combination options; individual supervision by committed professors; accredited courses of study which are tested for quality; course is possible each semester in full-time and part-time variants.

Special features regarding the equipmentSince the summer semester of 2008, the Computer Science department at the Universität Bayreuth has had a new building at its disposal which is equipped with several specialised labs (robotics, parallel systems, computer graphics) in addition to lecture theatres, seminar rooms and PC rooms. All lecture rooms have air conditioning. The courses are carried out using state-of-the-art technology (microphone, multimedia presentations, projector, overhead projector). There are cameras in the lecture theatres so that courses can be recorded in order to be able to subsequently upload the course, for example, to the e-learning programme.

Special features regarding research activitiesComputer Science at the Uni Bayreuth currently comprises eight working groups. The working groups cover the complete field of Computer Science in teaching and research. Computer Science is sub-divided into the following areas: Software Engineering, Parallel and Distributed Systems, Robotics and Embedded Systems, Databases and Information Systems, Computer Graphics and Artificial Intelligence, Algorithms and Data Structures, Theoretical Computer Science and Serious Games. Furthermore, a large number of projects are supervised from many fields with national and international funding and cooperation.
