  • Special features regarding teaching
Teaching is science and research-based and highly practice-relevant. The special features of teaching at this institution include the learning workshops where students can learn about topics on their own with guidance. As part of a "training ward" groups of students take responsibility for a hospital ward. And to teach communication skills, there are exercises with simulated patients (actors) which are then assessed. "Practical assignments" help students to apply what they have learned in practice. A big focus is on the teaching of research methods.
  • Special features regarding the international orientation
In relation to its size, the university places an above-average emphasis on an international focus. The Erasmus partnerships in the area of Nursing are currently being expanded in order to promote student mobility. Lecturers from partner universities regularly come to teach at the ehs. International guest lectures (ehs international lectures) take place at regular intervals. The lecturers of the ehs themselves are involved in international research groups. At the ehs itself, international students receive special support through an international group, study place quotas, etc.
  • Exchange universities for stay abroads
FH St. Pölten, Österreich; Berner Fachhochschule, Schweiz; Hochschule Seinäjoki, Finnland
  • Special features regarding the equipment
Since the 2012 the university makes use of a new building which is technically state-of-the-art. WiFi is available on the campus. Many media items in the library are available in electronic form. The range of specialist databases and electronic journals is being expanded.
  • Characteristics of assistance to differently abled persons
There is a regulation on disadvantage compensation for health-related impairments. In addition, the improvement of equal opportunities is constantly worked on at the university.
  • Characteristics of diversity advancement
As part of the university’s “Arbeitsstelle Mensch”, students, teaching and administrative staff work to promote diversity at the university. The university makes special efforts to support and advance students and academics who have fled to Germany, and it offers activities and provisions funded by the federal state for this purpose.
  • Other special features
The Evangelische Hochschule Dresden (Protestant University of Dresden) considers variety and diversity to be an asset and promotes these. It is open to all students, independent of denomination and religion. The university promotes interaction which is shaped by acceptance, and encourages active engagement in university life. This also includes programmes such as prayer services or semester worship services, in which all members of the university can participate in as required. In addition, there is the possibility of completing in-depth studies in theological-protestant welfare.
