  • Special features regarding the equipment
    Geomorphology/Geo-Ecology: Physical/geographical lab for sedimentological-pedological sample analyses, X-ray fluorescence analysis, range of drilling machinery including core saw, laser particle sizer, Sedigraph, CHNS analyser, pH metres, muffle furnace, various microscopes and remote sensing and GIS software; Climatology: two permanent automatic weather stations at two regional sites, five mobile automatic weather stations, three fine dust measuring instruments, two ultrasonic anemometers, ice-steam drill, vertical captive balloon probe as well as various mobile measuring sensors for atmospheric measurements.
  • Characteristics of assistance to differently abled persons
    On application to the relevant examination boards, students with health impairments are given special consideration, and a suitable form of reasonable adjustment for examinations is granted in every justified case.
  • Characteristics of diversity advancement
    There is a generally high level of openness with regard to migrant-background students and academic staff members (who, at approx. 25%, make up a considerable proportion of the academic staff). Questions relating to the integration of people with a migrant background are also regularly picked up on constructively in teaching and research.
  • Other special features
    In addition to the above-mentioned special features of the technical (laboratory) equipment, the institute has good to very good basic equipment for research and teaching based on the modern methodical needs in all areas of Geography.
