Special features regarding teachingA special feature of the teaching is the high in relation to practice in the form of so-called "project modules”. Here the focus is placed on intensive methodology training; knowledge of the field of Geography is also taught and deepened using current issues. Furthermore, module blocks are taught by external geographers with good links to the professional world so that contact to possible work placements can be gained, in addition to a diverse range of course offerings.
Special features regarding the international orientationDistinct international research activities are under way in the areas of geographical development research and geographical conflict research. This includes above all the reconstruction of conflict regions (Afghanistan and Syria) as well as development research in sub-Saharan Africa (e.g., Namibia and Malawi). In particular, the cooperation with Africa is also open to students for excursions and exchange agreements.
