  • Special features regarding teaching
    A special feature is the proximity to the Geozentrum Hannover (merger of BGR, LIAG and LBEG). As a result, the students benefit greatly, as a considerable part of the teaching is covered by lecturers from the Geozentrum Hannover. In addition, a large part of the final theses and project work is supervised by lecturers from the Geozentrum, which ensures a high practical relevance of the training. Another special feature is the opportunity to major in soil science.

  • Special features regarding the equipment
    The institutes involved in the course have laboratories with state-of-the-art analytical/experimental methods, all of which are also used in teaching and for project work/theses. In addition, there are the excellent equipment facilities of the Geozentrum Hannover, which is also heavily involved in student training. This exceptionally high concentration of top-class technical equipment provides students with special expertise in the use of large-scale analytical equipment. In addition, there are various CIP pools for GIS and modelling.
  • Special features regarding research activities
    Both the university institutes and the Geozentrum Hannover are characterised by a high number of ongoing research projects, in which the cooperation of students is highly welcome, be it for qualifying work or in the context of Hiwi projects. This leads to a unique win-win situation, from which students in particular benefit by learning methods, gaining an insight into the professional implementation of research projects, and also experiencing the expertise to see themselves as part of a larger, usually multinational research team.
  • Support for founders
    Funding through the graduate school "GRANAT" of the Faculty of Natural Sciences. "GRANAT" accompanies and supports company start-ups, helps to build up a personal career network and offers to develop own career strategies. Some current offers from the programme: Career talks and company excursions for academics and Master's students; Promotion Plus+ programme; special advisory services from the Federal Employment Agency for graduates and students in the department.
