    Through the compulsory elective modules, in the Master's course an in-depth specialisation in applied fields such as Geothermics, Hydrogeology, Engineering Geology and Applied Geochemistry is possible. There are two endowed professorships in geothermal energy and technical petrophysics

    Applied Geosciences of the KIT are part of the International University Consortium of Earth Sciences (http://www.iuces.com/indexone.shtml; A double degree programme, carried out by the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology and the National Institute of Sciences Appliquées de Strasbourg, leads to the degree ‘Master of Science (M.Sc.) in Geodesy and Geoinformatics’ as well as to the title ‘Ingénieur INSA de Strasbourg, Spécialité Topographie’ (https://www.dfh-ufa.org/studium/studienfuehrer/mode/detail/id/geodaesie-und-geoinformatiktopographie/)

    Geochemical laboratory (ICP-MS, XRD, WD-XRF, ED-XRF, DTA-TG, IR-MS, FIAS, CSA, IC) preparation laboratory mineralogical and geological collection field laboratory with in-situ and online measuring multi-sensor systems for limnic systems and maritime waters (Biofish, Biolift, ADCP), atmospheric aerosol collector programs/modelling: Geostatistics-ISATIS (geovariance). The department also has access to the angstrom source Karlsruhe (ANKA) on Campus Nord, which is particularly relevant for final dissertations.
