three GIS/FE/PC labs with 39 student workstations (high-performance computers with 19" PVA panel, opening hours: 24 h in the working week); Software: ArcGIS, ENVI, SPSS, MAXQDA, Visual Nature Studio; four film editing workstations; specialist Geography library (80,000 monographs, 60,000 journal volumes, 500 current journals); geo lab with key focus on pedological investigation techniques.

Building on the philosophy of "future-oriented spatial development – Geography research and teaching for society and the environment", it positions itself as an applied and integrative scientific discipline for the conflicting priorities of environment, industry and society. Research focuses: Global change and hazard research, transformation processes in emerging economies, urban and regional development, education for sustainable development.
