Special features regarding teachingMany practical courses enable close contact with teaching staff. Especially on the Master’s degree, students have a major role in current research. Master's theses are often published in specialist international journals. Most lectures are also linked to practical coursework and field trips which serve to deepen knowledge of the course content worked through in the lectures.

Special features regarding the equipmentThe geoscientific institutes of the faculty have modern laboratories. In the analytical-experimental field, especially in the field of isotope geochemistry, the institutes are very well equipped. Together, they operate a range of large-scale equipment, including multiple scanning and transmission electron microscopes, which are also used for teaching.
