    The scientists of the institute have good international contacts. Teaching also benefits from this, for example the institute has had several international guest lectureships and professorships in the past few years. Partnerships with various international universities and research institutions are also reflected in the objectives and content of the excursions within and outside Europe, which are mandatory in most of the courses. The master's degree EAGLE is advertised internationally and a large number of applicants are from Europe, Africa, Southeast Asia and South America.

  • Special features regarding the equipment
    The institute has its own computer pool with specialist software (e.g. statistics, GIS, remote sensing, modelling, qualitative and quantitative analysis). The geomorphology-soil science laboratory has workstations and equipment for basic soil chemical, soil physical, geomorphology and geotechnical laboratory analysis. In addition, many different modern empirical survey, measuring and field method devices, a physically-volcanological laboratory and teaching-learning models offer innovative educational and research methods.
  • Characteristics of assistance to differently abled persons
    A central facility for students of the University of Würzburg is KIS, the contact and information office for students with disabilities and/or chronic conditions.
  • Other special features
    The scientists of the Institute of Geography and Geology are closely networked and involved in research centres at the university, such as the Africa Centre, the Centre for Regional Research and the Würzburg Centre for Antiquity. Partnerships, participations and memberships also exist with the Archaeological Spessart Project, the Statistics Network Bavaria and others In addition, lecturers from the institute are involved in the elite degree programme ‘Global Change Ecology’ of the University of Bayreuth.
