  • Special features regarding teaching
    Biology (B): Interdisciplinary teaching in the basic part of the course; Modern laboratories and in the 5th and &th semester focus on molecular biology topics in (methodology) teaching; English is a compulsory module (foreign language skills acquisition); Possible specialisation in virology and immunology; ILS (B a. M): Interdisciplinary training; Interdisciplinary modules; English-language Master's degree course; Cell and molecular biology (M): Research-oriented training in molecular biology; Small group sizes; UNIcert III (English as a key qualification)
  • Other special features
    The Department of Biology currently hosts a DFG-funded Research Training Group (www.biomembranes.de/) and an SFB Transregio (www.trr130.forschung.uni-erlangen.de). The department cooperates closely with Medicine and the Physics and Mathematics departments. Master students can choose modules from medicine (immunology, virology, human genetics). In the winter semester of 2018, a new elite study programme ‘Integrated Immunology’ is expected to start, in which the faculties of biology and medicine are equally involved.
