Special features regarding teachingThe full breadth of the subject of Chemistry is represented at the university, including specialist subjects. The focus of the teaching means there is close proximity between lecturers and students. As students are involved in a wide range of research projects run by the Chairs at an early stage, their basic training is followed by a practical introduction to university research and practice-based developments within the framework of collaborations with industry. This phase therefore focuses on teaching academic learning and project-based work.
Special features regarding the international orientationThanks to research collaborations, the department is part of international networks. The admission and exchange of visiting academics and doctoral candidates from other universities increases the international focus. The possibility of spending semesters abroad in the Bachelor's and Master's degree courses offers students the opportunity to spend time studying in another country without the need to extend their studies. The exchange of students is also encouraged by the range of international spring, summer and winter schools. Further programmes, such as bi-national degrees, are currently being developed.
Characteristics of assistance to differently abled personsWe refer to the university's programmes at this stage. The Department of Chemistry traditionally places a particular focus on students with long-term health problems.
