Special features regarding teachingThe degree courses have a strong orientation towards Care Management and Health Studies. In the course of this, a connection to international and national discourses in Nursing Science is sought as well as the examination of current issues in national nursing practice. In the areas of project work and self-organised learning in particular, connections to nursing practice are systematically established in order to better identify and further develop problems and concepts of care provision. Empirical approaches are highly involved in this.

Special features regarding the international orientationThe faculty focuses on a concept for internationalisation. International networking is predominantly created through research and the programmes of a summer school or winter school with foreign partner universities. The students are systematically included in these activities. In the Nursing courses, a strong sense of "internationalisation at home" is promoted. In almost all modules, international knowledge and international concepts/projects, etc. are incorporated into the teaching.
Common partner universities for exchangeArgentinien-Universidad Nacional de Córdoba; Belgien-Karel de Grote Hogeschool; Dänemark-Via University College; Finnland-Jyväskylän Ammattikorkeakoulu (JAMK); Italien-Libera Università di Bolzano - Freie Universität Bozen; Mexiko-Instituto Tecnológico y de Estudios Superiores de Monterrey (ITESM); Österreich-FH Campus Wien; Schweden-Högskolan i Jönköping; Spanien-Universidad de Jaén; USA-University of Alabama at Birmingham
Special features regarding the equipmentAll lecture rooms are modern and equipped with multimedia. Characteristics of assistance to differently abled personsThe department works according to a concept for health promotion, which is aimed at students, staff and lecturers and which offers the usual health promotion activities (e.g. drinking fountains, exercise programmes, reduction of spatial barriers). The faculty also offers a special alcohol prevention programme for the students. Chronically ill students can incorporate timetable wishes and are given special examination conditions if required. For people with visual impairments, there is a special computer offer (own computer with screen and font processing).
Characteristics of diversity advancementThe students are a heterogeneous group in terms of age, work and educational biography and many other aspects. There are therefore different concepts for programme schedules: Accreditation procedures; individualised programme schedules, support with lecture planning (e.g. family friendly), induction days, mentoring programme, other advisory services. The aim is to support individualised progression and the ability of diverse groups to study. The existing and acquired potential of the students should be recognised and incorporated in that process.
Other special featuresThe faculty has very good links with regional industry. On the one hand, there is a regular semester meeting in the institution with representatives from industry and university; on the other a number of practitioners work as assistant professors at the university. The professors of the faculty regularly and systematically visit industry institutions in the region. On an agency level, there are also are very many contacts and collaboration topics.
