Special features regarding teachingHigh proportion of practical training content, especially in teacher training courses. In accordance with the mission statement of Goethe University, high value is placed on research-based teaching. Sound training in scientific methods.

Special features regarding the equipmentFour beach volleyball courts; judo hall; weight training room; in different sports facilities measuring stations are permanently installed for recording biomechanical target figures.

Special features regarding research activitiesThe departments located at the IfS cooperate in the framework of research projects with renowned national and international partners and cover the entire field of Sports Science research. Funding comes from national (BMBF, BMG, BMAS, BISp) as well as international (EU, DAAD) sources.

Other special featuresClose cooperation with Department 16 (Human Medicine), whereby the course on Microscopic Anatomy (with cadaver dissection demonstration), is firmly anchored in our courses. There are numerous agreements with professional associations, DOSB, and the specialist sports associations, which offer the option of work placements amongst other things. Own local Ethics Committee in cooperation with the Institute of Psychology.
