Special features regarding the equipmentFurther development of the sports campus through the construction of a new institute building (inauguration in 2013) with a variety of other sports facilities (artificial turf pitch, inauguration in 2017, as well as a variety of other sports facilities such as beach soccer field, beach volleyball courts, jumping and throwing facilities, football turf pitch, inauguration in 2018/19). In addition, teaching facilities in the immediate vicinity of the institute (e.g. for water sports and swimming) are used.

Special features regarding research activitiesIntensive contract research in the four areas; exceptional position in the country through its foundation (2011) and scientific management of the "Skills group fan cultures and sport-related social work" (KoFaS), G.A. Pilz; many years of research expertise in the field of "Multisensory & Motion Sonification"; involvement in international research groups; additional research initiatives in the fields of "Sport and Society" and "Sport and Health", the second in close cooperation with the Hannover Medical School, Institute of Sports Medicine.

Other special featuresPeer-led information and continuing education courses on the topic of inclusion; development of new continuous partnerships with schools and other sports-related institutions throughout the city, the state and nationwide (some projects with excursions within the framework of courses for students); here, student representatives belong to the peer-led management of the institute (seat and vote on the Executive Board).
