    High degree of practical relevance through (1) Project assignments in cooperation with companies in the region; (2) "Industrial Engineering" learning factory: application of methods in realistic production environment; (3) Laboratory hall, in which core production processes are applied to machines in small groups.
  • Special features regarding the international orientation
    Joint dual-degree Master’s programme “Production Engineering and Management” with the University of Trieste with a compulsory semester abroad. Intensive subject-specific exchange via annual joint international conference at both locations (“International Conference on Production Engineering and Management”). Module with subject-specific international focus within the Master’s programmes (e.g. modules “Global Production”, “International Management Skills”).

    Extensive machine stock, e.g. lathes and milling machines, the latest generation, laser sintering plant, water jet cutting machines, injection moulding machines, laser machines, wood processing machines, assembly robots; See individual laboratory web pages for further information.

    The OWL University is developing a concept for the inclusion of students with disabilities and health problems, including for the purposes of admissions and exams. It already has a representative for students with disabilities and is committed to ensuring barrier-free access throughout the university. The exam regulations for Production and Economics includes measures for the equalisation of disadvantages for students with disabilities.

    Production and Economics respects and promotes the university’s central objectives and facilities for equality. The department is involved in equality-related activities and has seconded one of its members to the equality committee. The OWL University was awarded the certificate “Total E-Quality” in 2013 for the fourth time in three years and is also a certified “family-friendly university”.
