  • Special features regarding teaching
    In Tübingen, it is not only "major" Romance languages and literature that are researched and taught, but also languages and literature with smaller numbers of speakers (Galician, Catalan, Occitan, Jewish Spanish, Rhaeto-Romanic, Romanian, Sardinian). The comparison between the Romance languages and with Latin is not only essential in linguistics; A comparative perspective is also an integral part in literature and cultural studies. Importance is attached to a link between historical and systematic perspectives.
  • Special features regarding the international orientation
    Partnerships are in place with numerous researchers and universities in France, Italy, Spain and Latin America (esp. Mexico and Brazil), including in connection with ongoing research projects (see point 27). Foreign academics are regular guests and temporary lecturers at colloquia and lectures in the Romance Studies seminar. Regular international conferences are also hosted. Participation in the DAAD network Global South and participation in the interdisciplinary degree course "Global South". Intercultural German-French studies in cooperation with Aix-en-Provence.

    The Universität Tübingen has the ILIAS platform for electronic course reserves to provide teaching materials in digital form which is used by all teaching staff of the Romance Studies seminar. Lectures are recorded and made available to students via the TIMMS Server. Each seminar room technically up to date (visualizer etc.).

    Academic projects in the reporting period with researchers of the Romance Studies seminar as leading applicants: Cooperation with the Interdisciplinary Centre for Global South Studies as part of the Literary Cultures of the Global South network; Project C
