  • Special features regarding teaching
    Our modern, well-equipped faculty is based in the well-known Softwarepark Hagenberg, which also houses numerous IT companies and research institutes and thus combines training, research and business in the field of Computer Science in a unique way. There is a reason why Hagenberg is also known as the "Austrian Silicon Valley". Small teams, friendly atmosphere, personal supervision and committed team of full-time and part-time lecturers. The special situation caused by the corona crisis was mastered by switching to distance learning within 3 days.

  • Special features regarding the equipment
    Equipment: 3 university buildings with a total area of 18,000 m² and usable area of 12,000m², 9 lecture halls, 19 seminar rooms and 64 laboratories, including very well equipped specialist laboratories such as the bio lab, the live recording studio LRS (with Greenbox) and the audio studio. In addition, the faculty uses further premises in the Softwarepark, mainly for research (e.g. the building SH3) and for the promotion of start-ups by students, alumni and staff; access to computer science databases; furthermore: Electronic journals, free-access databases and research portals.
  • Special features regarding research and development
    Research & Development at the FH OÖ Campus Hagenberg is all about information technology, communication and media. 14 research groups and two Josef Ressel Centres are working on innovative solutions for the digital future and are making a significant contribution to the strategic development of R&D in the ICT - Information & Communication Technologies field of strength (focus on prescriptive analytics, IT security, human-computer interaction) as well as in FH Oberösterreich's cross-faculty Centres of Excellence (Smart Production, Logistics, Medical Technology, Energy, Automotive & Mobility).
  • Support for founders
    Some very successful companies have already been founded by students of the faculty: e.g. Runtastic; Loxone, bet-at-home and many more. Coworking space "bytewerk" and transfer center; akostart oö is Austria's first cross-university network for academic startups and spinoffs. The association is supported by the University of Linz, the University of Applied Sciences of Upper Austria and the University of Art and Design Linz. The planning and implementation of a pre-seed accelerator programme began in 2016 at the Hagenberg campus. The faculty supports this accelerator programme, such as through mentoring and the provision of infrastructure
