Special features regarding teachingDepartment 1 significantly contributes to the quality of teaching through the dual degree courses, the development of e-learning programmes, through the strong practical orientation in the teaching and in the development of students' skills in special classes. The students are introduced to cooperation in research projects. Important stimuli for prospective students are offered to pupils by the concept mint4u.

Special features regarding the international orientationThe department aims to prepare students for work and life in a global context. Measures include support for mobility partnerships (Erasmus+) for teachers and students, promotion of internationalisation as well as international activities (exchange of lecturers, visiting professorships, English-taught courses).

Special features regarding the equipmentThe department has a wide variety of laboratories for application-oriented research and teaching. These include laboratories for neuroinformatics, computational visualistics, cloud computing, vehicle information technology and human-machine interaction.

Characteristics of assistance to differently abled personsReasonable adjustments can be granted to compensate for health impairments that impact on studying. A claim to reasonable adjustments is based on the existence of a chronic conditions and/or longer-term impairments that meet the criteria for a disability. Guidance on reasonable adjustments and support with making an application are offered by the officer responsible across all the departments for students with impairments.

Characteristics of diversity advancementTo increase the proportion of women in STEM subjects and support successful study outcomes, efforts are made to encourage networking among female students, staff members and professors within the HRW and especially with women from science and industry. New appointments are intended to consistently raise the number of women professors.
