Special features regarding teachingThe degree course of nursing science aims to train critically reflective nursing practitioners. Accordingly, strategies are used in teaching that promote critical thinking skills and individual case understanding. In problem-oriented learning and simulation training, you will deal with complex case scenarios and develop theoretical as well as practical nursing solutions. In the context of research-based learning, you will apply research methods yourself in small projects and try to dovetail the theoretical insights gained with nursing practice.
Special features regarding the international orientation– Existing cooperations with international institutions/universities; option/advancement Student-Teaching Exchange; continuous integration and reflection of international publications/research results in the framework of the university teaching; in the 6th semester, there is the possibility of an elective placement in an international context.
Exchange universities for stay abroadsKajaani University of Applied Sciences, Finnland; FH Gesundheitsberufe OÖ, Österreich
Special features regarding the equipmentThe Nursing Science programme has a very comprehensive and international stock of textbooks, e-books, scientific journals as well as subject-specific databases. This gives you access to the current state of research from anywhere and allows you to prepare optimally for teaching as well as internships. For research activities, both hardware and software can be borrowed, such as dictation machines or statistical programs.
Special features regarding research and developmenteHealth for older citizens in rural regions of Brandenburg; "Living and housing in old age - development of age-friendly rural communities"; age-friendly housing adaptation
Other special featuresThe course has skills labs (e.g. nursing rooms, nursing bathrooms, intensive care rooms, paediatrics rooms) which replicate the real-life care situation in hospitals and nursing homes. In the skills lab, practical nursing skills are trained on simulation patients and mannequins. In a protected learning environment, nursing actions can be practised and mistakes made without exposing real patients and residents to risk. This provides for a routine of action as well as self-confidence and prepares optimally for the practical phases in the health care facilities.
