  • Special features regarding teaching
    The university has a skills lab and a simulation lab where students acquire practical skills. In addition, learning through research plays an important role in the didactic concept of the Katholische Hochschule, and this is employed in the degree course Applied Nursing Science as part of student teaching and research projects.

    Through our International Office and existing contacts to universities abroad, there are a wide variety of opportunities to gain insights into the health systems of other countries.

  • Special features regarding the equipment
    The KH Freiburg has a clear focus on digitising the university. In addition to specialist databases, the collection of the affiliated library of the German Caritas Association places a special focus on nursing science. As part of a three-year project (funded by the Robert Bosch Foundation among others) between 1994 and 1997 a basic collection of German and international nursing literature for the newly set up nursing degrees across Germany has been set up and it is continuously expanded.
  • Characteristics of assistance to differently abled persons
    The equal opportunity officers are the points of contact for students with permanent health impairments. An equal opportunity concept has been in place since 2009 and also extends to students. “Studying with children” or the double commitment of studying and caring for dependants are also considered here. All KH Freiburg premises are accessible for people with disabilities.
  • Characteristics of diversity advancement
    From the equal opportunity concept: "In parallel to supporting women students to assume leadership roles, the intention is also to raise interest among men for the degree programmes at the KH Freiburg and thus also for the social professions. KH Freiburg’s public relations work, particularly at information events in and for schools, should aim to specifically target boys and awaken their interest in a degree programme at KH Freiburg. Sensitivity to the subject of gender is raised in the course of studies.
  • Other special features
    KH Freiburg was the first ecclesiastical university in Germany to achieve system accreditation in 2015. The internal quality assurance system was accredited in the area of academic studies and teaching. The quality assurance system of the Catholic University of Freiburg is therefore suitable for ensuring the achievement of the qualification objectives and the quality standards of the study programmes. Another recognition attesting to the extensive quality development activities is the ‘Recognised for Excellence *** (3 stars)’ international seal of quality awarded by the EFQM in 2016.
