Special features regarding teachingInterdisciplinary structure of all degree courses, efficient course size with 20 to max. 60 students, laboratories and practicals in small groups of 10 to 20 students, high proportion of practice-related project work from/in companies in very small groups (2-8 students), approx. 50% of teaching is done by specialists with practical experience, individual recognition of prior knowledge.

Special features regarding the international orientationIPM-B: selected courses and/or project work in English; IPM-M held in English: International classroom; option of semester abroad and/or work placement abroad; international placement students are integrated in ongoing research projects; teaching staff regularly take part in international conferences/further training; Innovation and Product Management Master's degree (IPM-M) double degree with Italian partner university; international guest lecturers and international short-term programmes integrated; Innovation and Product Management Bachelor's degree (IPM-B) provides preparation for international accreditation.

Special features regarding research and developmentThe Faculty of Technology in Wels is the largest and strongest research faculty of the FH Oberösterreich: approx. 180 current projects, approx. 9M€ acquired R&D funds per year and approx. 140 R&D employees. Major projects, e.g: Josef-Ressel-Zentrum for innovative multi-body dynamics, Josef-Ressel-Zentrum für thermographic non-destructive testing, K-Zentrum für Feed and Food, Quality, Safety and Innovation, various Interreg projects together with research institutions from Bavaria and the Czech Republic, and many more.

Other special featuresCampus in the city centre and close to the railway station; due to the small size, direct contact to the professors with intensive project support; high proportion of practical work in all study courses; fixed practice and laboratory places, extensive tutorials in elective subjects (e.g. languages); possibility to acquire external certificates in the areas of quality and environmental management (TÜV-Süd), value analysis (VDI). Specialist welding engineer (IIW), course for authorised blasters, etc.; measures to promote women on their way to the FH.
