Special features regarding teachingDegree can be designed to suit individual aptitude through small groups, choice of project topics, intensive support for laboratory exercises, choosing three from a wide range of modules, few exams, instead grades reports and oral exams. The final dissertations are usually written industrial companies. There are a number of well-known companies in the region which regularly offer students the opportunity to write their final dissertations there and offer jobs to graduates, such as ZF, eto magnetic, ThyssenKrupp Presta, dunkermotoren, Siemans SPPAL, …
Special features regarding the international orientationCooperation with NTB Buchs, St.Gallen campus, Switzerland: The compulsory subject "methodology of mechatronic system and product development" is taught in St. Gallen (about one hour by train or car). Double degree as part of a cooperation agreement. The graduates are also issued with a Master's certificate by the partner university. Students can choose the mandatory elective module Robotics at St. Gallen. Comprehensive recognition of credits gained abroad based on individual requirements, e.g. at partner universities in the USA, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Australia, Brazil, France, …

Special features regarding the equipmentModern laboratories for measurement technology, circuit technology, programming, modelling, simulation and control of mechatronic systems, robotics (St. Gallen). Computer rooms with all simulation tools used in teaching and available for self-study to prepare for and follow up on classes. MATLAB/Simulink license for all students financed by the university. Well-stocked award-winning university library: Print books, e-books, databases (standards, patents etc.) and many journals available for download. Free access to the university library in Constance.
Special features regarding research and developmentVarious research projects are underway, which mechatronics students are involved in, e.g. electrified wheel loader, automated data collection from process engineering plants (Industry 4.0), bicycle trailer with motor and load-sensing, position control of linear motor axes, light technology testing, additive manufacturing processes. Some former mechatronics students did their PhD Es as a cooperative doctorate with a co-supervisor from the HTWG.
Support for foundersThere are several consulting and support services for start-ups, e.g. "Kilometer 1" (www.kilometer1.de).
Other special featuresTitle: Master of Engineering degree. Well-established and distinguished degree course for more than 10 years. The students are a colourful mixture of bachelor graduates from various universities of applied sciences, cooperative universities and universities; with and without professional experience. This brings an inspiring exchange of experiences. Accredited degree programme. Graduates who choose a career as civil servants in Germany will be prepared for higher civil service positions.
