    Interdisciplinary structure of all degree courses; Course-specific specialisation based on Mechanical Engineering, Materials Engineering, Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Biology, Chemistry, Computer Science and Business Administration; efficient course sizes with 20 to max. 60 students; practical sessions in ideal small groups of 10 to 20 students; wide range of Bachelor's/Master's theses from industry; Projects/case studies from companies in very small groups (2-8 students); 45 % of teaching done by specialists with practical experience; individual recognition of prior knowledge and informally acquired knowledge.

    Selected courses and/or project work in English; Involving international guest instructors; Active support for semester abroad and/or work placement abroad and short-term programmes; International interns are used in ongoing research projects; international students with regular enrolment are welcomed in all degree courses; teaching staff regularly take part in international conferences/further training

    The technical faculty in Wels is the largest and most research-intensive faculty at the Upper Austria University of Applied Sciences: Around 231 ongoing projects, approx. EUR 10 m in external R&D funding acquired per year, and approx. 250 staff in R&D. Major projects include: K1 Austrian Competence Centre for Feed and Food Quality, Safety and Innovation (FFoQSI), JRZ (Josef-Ressel Zentrum für phytogene Wirkstoffforschung), H2020 SENDER – Sustainable consumer engagement and demand response; H2020 Marie Curie xCTing – Enabling X-ray CT-based Industry 4.0 process chains by training Next Generation research experts, H2020 EnerMan – ENERgy-efficient manufacturing system Management, and much more

    FH OOE operates its own transfer centre for business start-ups and entrepreneurship; opportunities/risk analysis of a business idea for market suitability; potential analysis of innovation and personality; entrepreneur tests;-support in the development of the business plan; selection and contact to suitable subsidies, investors and mentors; support during self-positioning, marketing and sales design; establishment and maintenance of further contacts. Furthermore, FH OOE offers 3 coworking spaces for free to develop business Ideas

    Campus in town centre and close to station; due to the small size there is direct contact with professors and intensive project supervision; all courses of study involve a very large practical component; extensive range of tutorial electives (e.g. foreign languages, beer brewing course); Opportunity to acquire external certificates in the fields of quality and environmental management (TÜV), value analysis (VDI), intern. welding engineer (IIW), agile project management, six-sigma green belt, blasting authorisation course, etc.; Extensive offer of university-level sports, measures to support women entering the university of applied sciences (FH).
