Special features regarding teachingInterdisciplinary structure of all degree courses; Course-specific specialisation based on Mechanical Engineering, Materials Engineering, Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Biology, Chemistry, Computer Science and Business Administration; efficient course sizes with 20 to max. 60 students; practical sessions in ideal small groups of 10 to 20 students; wide range of Bachelor's/Master's theses from industry; Projects/case studies from companies in very small groups (2-8 students); 45 % of teaching done by specialists with practical experience; individual recognition of prior knowledge and informally acquired knowledge.

Special features regarding research and developmentThe technical faculty in Wels is the largest and most research-intensive faculty at the Upper Austria University of Applied Sciences: Around 231 ongoing projects, approx. EUR 10 m in external R&D funding acquired per year, and approx. 250 staff in R&D.
