  • Special features regarding teaching
    Only university of applied sciences in Saxony that covers the entire process of vehicle development in conjunction with automotive-specific traffic systems engineering in both teaching and research. Close link to automotive electronics (often associated with the term Mechatronics at other universities) with an interdepartmental degree course in "Automobile Electronics" offered jointly with the department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering degree courses with a strong economics profile (specialisation in Vehicle Service, Industrial Engineering – Vehicle Engineering). Interdisciplinary Formula Student project WHZ Racing Team since 2007.
  • Special features regarding the international orientation
    Individual focus taking into account the department of Applied Languages and Cross-Cultural Communication with the aim of increasing the number of outgoing students. Improved compatibility with flexible options for transferring credits.
  • Special features regarding the equipment
    Approximately 3,500 sq. metres of laboratories and test benches on the Scheffelberg campus (4 engine test benches, complete vehicle, acoustics, fluid engineering, car body making), approx. 400 sq. metres of laboratories for lightweight construction and fatigue strength in the Jakob-Leupold building; Simulation and visualisation laboratories in the field of Vehicle and Infrastructure through to the driving simulator and own test track.
  • Special features regarding research and development
    Close cooperation with industry serves as a basis for training with practical relevance. In the faculty of Vehicle Engineering, this includes applied research in the industry network, task-related research and continuing education courses for industry. Projects in the field of Automotive Drive Engineering with an increasing shift in the direction of electric mobility as well as integration of the vehicle into the infrastructure.
