Further information provided by the department
Special features regarding teachingThe range of career-integrated courses is aimed at a combination of study and accompanying practical work or implementation in companies. Subject-specific options enable an individual profile to be formed and a specialist area to be studied within the course. The guidance on business thinking and behaviour is a key part of this alongside the specialist training. Legal, business and personal development subjects are also anchored in the course of study. We use regular quality assurance and quality development to create high-quality training programmes in line with the needs of industry.
Special features regarding the international orientationThe international involvement applies both for teaching and for R&D. Special features include excursions to international trade fairs, language study trips, a study trip at a partner university in South-East Europe, the incorporation of international guest lecturers in courses, the third semester in the Master's degree course is intended as a mobility window, active support for attendance of summer schools as well as the financial support of students for these measures. Various Erasmus agreements as well as the involvement in two CEEPUS networks also enable international networking in R&D.
Common partner universities for exchangeDublin Institute of Technology, Irland; Transilvania University of Brasov, Rumänien; University of Novi Sad, Serbien
Special features regarding the equipmentThe technical equipment is used for teaching and for applied R&D: 2 industrial robots including safety equipment, electronic manufacturing (SMD pick-and-place machine, reflow oven, vapour-phased soldering furnace, reworking station), test equipment (temperature oven, Thermostream, measurement technology, HF measuring technology), rapid prototyping (3D printers using the fused deposition modelling and powder principle, laser cutter), RFID (antennae, reader, measurement technology), various laboratories.
Special features regarding research and developmentApplication-oriented research and development based on the needs of industry mean innovative state-of-the-art problem solving. In addition to small and medium-sized companies, we also look after company founders and inventors in particular. Five key research areas: industrial measurement technology and measuring station automation, rapid automation – virtual methods and simulation in development, RFID (radio frequency identification), energy optimisation and development of prototypes and demonstrators.

Other special featuresThe degree course is a founding member of the Austrian mechatronics platform , which brings together the relevant Austrian universities of applied sciences. One of the main aims to have been achieved was the coordination of studies so that every Bachelor's degree course completed at member institution meets the subject-specific admission requirements for a Master's degree course in all other institutions. In addition, the degree course is a founding member of the automation engineering platform, which pushes forward the networking between the relevant companies and academic institutions.
