Université de Lorraine (Frankreich), Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya Barcelona (Spanien), Luleå tekniska universitet (Schweden)
  • Special features regarding the equipment
Universität des Saarlandes has a commercial atom probe. This device is used in Materials Science for exact mapping of element distribution by means of an atomic resolution. In addition, three-dimensional reconstruction of the atomic distribution is possible. Furthermore, Universität des Saarlandes has an FIB (Focused Ion Beam), with which the students can analyse and manipulate the surface structure at molecular level. There is also a transmission electron microscope (TEM).
  • Special features regarding research activities
Strong links between the university department and the non-university research institutes on campus (Fraunhofer IZFP, Leibniz INM, etc.)
  • Website with further information on research activities
