  • Special features regarding teaching
    The didactically high level of the teaching and intensive supervision ensure practice-based training and enable students to complete the course within the time provided. Professors of MCI, managers from industry, guest lecturers from all over the world and recognised experts from science, consultancy and freelance professions ensure a synergy of theory and practice, direct testing of acquired knowledge and added value for students.
  • Special features regarding the international orientation
    International mobility phases (semester abroad, internships abroad, short programs abroad); 220 partner universities; MCI students from 51 nations; support from the International Relations Office in preparation and processing (information events, clarification of compatibility, etc.); participation in (inter-) national educational programs, university networks and scholarship programs (ERASMUS plus, Marshallplan Foundation Scholarships, Fulbright, etc.); ECTS and Diploma Supplement Label; AACSB-accredited as the second university in Austria.

  • Special features regarding the equipment
    All seminar rooms and computer rooms have high-quality equipment which can be added to if required. Many student workstations offer ideal learning conditions. In addition, there are reference libraries with specialist literature and computers, copiers, printers and scanners. Access to selected scientific databases (Emerald Insight, MarketLine, ScienceDirect, RDB, WISO) is possible on all PCs and wireless eduroam® as well as remotely (via Shibboleth). All MCI members also have free access to the University and Provincial Library of Tyrol (ULB).
  • Special features regarding research and development
    Implementation of these research focus areas is conducted using both applied research and development projects, in collaboration with partners from the field of Social Work as well as within the scope of specific internal research projects led by the full-time lecturers. To this end, a proportion of students are involved in research assignments, within the scope of project courses and practical projects. In the case of inter-disciplinary cooperative ventures, R&D projects are carried out together with other courses, according to the topic.
  • Support for founders
    The MCI attaches great importance to the promotion of Start-ups and entrepreneurship activities: A service unit provides initial information on business start-ups, entrepreneurship and commercialisation of research and development results. In addition, MCI maintains, jointly with CAST GmbH, an incubator centre for faculty, students and graduates with innovative business ideas. CAST GmbH is an initiative of the University of Innsbruck, the Medical University of Innsbruck, the business promotion agency of Tyrol and MCI, which is supported by the federal government.
  • Other special features
    As part of the R&D strategy at the department, the bio-psycho-socio-cultural theory of social issues is used in particular to create a social sciences basis for the understanding, analysis and development of solution strategies for resolving social issues in our global society.
