  • Special features regarding teaching
    The FH is closely networked with regional employer organisations in Social Work and therefore offers graduates good connections for their first job in the Vorarlberg region. Full-time and part-time lecturers are experts and are or were employed in the field of Social Work. They have extensive practical experience and in-depth teaching knowledge. Our lecturers promote a stimulating learning environment. The curriculum of the BA is described as "generalist". The curriculum for the MA primarily teaches subject-specific and academic skills.
  • Special features regarding the international orientation
    Experts from the network of over 20 international partner universities are regularly invited to join the faculty (USA, Germany, Hungary, Switzerland, South Africa, etc.). Our teachers are active in international networks (ERIS, European Centre of Clinical Social Work, EASPD, DGSA, OGSA, etc). In the fourth semester of the Bachelor's programme, students can take a voluntary semester abroad and/or incoming students from partner universities teach classes. The semester is held in English. Students attend international conferences in the Master's programme.

  • Special features regarding the equipment
    The FH Vorarlberg offers an innovative learning environment. Current, digital learning platforms, an excellently equipped library and support for technical issues (helpdesk for students) are provided as standard at the FH Vorarlberg.
  • Special features regarding research and development
    In the Bachelor's course of study, there is a general introduction to the field of research and empirical principles. Academic research skills represent a clear competence objective in the Master's programme: Research projects explore issues, the solution of which requires qualitative and/or quantitative methods of empirical social research. Research projects pursue a real social issue of social services in all relevant fields of action. Via the Research Centre for Social and Economic Research, projects are acquired and processed.
  • Support for founders
    The 6th semester prepares students for their career entry through elective options. Master's students can choose the elective Company Start-up.
  • Other special features
    The innovative learning environment, the high quality of the lecturers and the work conducted in small groups foster and promote collaborative learning. The interaction and dialogue between students and lecturers with a clear focus on skills makes a course of study here particularly attractive. The proximity to Switzerland, Liechtenstein and Germany results in lecturers and students representing an interesting mix of nationalities. A close integration of theory with practice, consideration of current research as well as current socio-political discussions are an essential component of the teaching.
