Special features regarding the international orientationThe Hochschule Hamm-Lippstadt has partnerships with universities in the entire world. Students can participate in exchange programmes under Erasmus and summer schools with various universities. There is a degree programmes with Chongqing University of Posts and Telecommunications in China. A partnership with Koforidua Technical University in Ghana was used to develop and set up a degree course in Mechatronics there based on the HSHL model. Joint student projects are in planning and are being prepared.

Special features regarding research and developmentThe special feature of this research projects lies in its interdisciplinarity (interdisciplinary departments and research fields) and strong practical relevance. Project examples: Renewable raw materials for optical components (NAROK); Polylactide from renewable raw materials ("Starke Forschung Chemie.NRW"); Development of tribology measurement device; Ageing of plastics under blue LED radiation; Disconnecting bonded lightweight structures; Construction and connection technology for power electronics in electromobility; Polylactide as a high-tech material for optical components

Support for foundersAt its Lippstadt premises, HSHL offers the Master’s programme “Technical Entrepreneurship and Innovation”, which is of special interest to prospective entrepreneurs. The topic is dealt with in a variety of ways. A business ideas competitions for students is held and start-up grants are available for students as well as additional contact points such as the Entrepreneurclub, the Science 2 Business Lab and a consulting company for students. The HSHL is a partner in the joint project StartUP.InnoLab, and a cooperation partner in the non-profit initiative STARTUP TEENS and offers a comprehensive network.

Other special featuresThe Hochschule Hamm-Lippstadt has a new building on both campuses, the latest technology (lecture theatres and laboratories) and also provides many student workspaces (group and individual workspaces). Existing partnerships offer numerous opportunities for innovation, including the Fraunhofer application centre SYMILA, a vehicle electronics competence centre, the Institute for Automotive Lighting Technology and Mechatronics (L-LAB) and the Research Institute for Automotive Electronics (E-LAB).
