  • Special features regarding teaching
    The main teaching objectives are the strengthening of professional competence to act and the ability for independent lifelong learning. Students learn to analyse structures and processes from the field on a scientific basis, develop practical solutions, update themselves their knowledge on the basis of scientific findings and methods and expand it appropriately as well as render it useful for practical application. Graduates are able to take on leadership roles at middle and higher management levels.
  • Special features regarding the international orientation
    Collaborations with several foreign universities exist, including the Monash University in Australia. Summer / winter schools are held together with the partner universities. An excursion to London is offered once a year (visits to IFRS, DZ Bank, Fitch Rating).
  • Special features regarding the equipment
    State-of-the-art labs are available as a basis for practical teaching, as well as for research and transfer projects: General Mechanical Engineering laboratory; Virtual Product Development laboratory; laboratory for electrical Engineering basics; laboratory for electrical drive technology; Usability Engineering and Market Research laboratory; laboratory for Business Information Systems; Software and Application Development laboratory; Logistics laboratory; Industry 4.0 laboratory; CreActive Room. The library has an extensive inventory of electronic books and journals.

    The key areas of research and transfer activities are: Human Vibrations (investigation of motorcycle human vibrations); Additive Manufacturing; Digitalised Production and Logistics (BMBF project Glasshouse: Smart Glasses to support logistics services, BMBF project InnovaKomm: Village community 2.0, BMWi project agency Mittelstand 4.0 - Cloud); Lean Management (Project EuroLEAN +); eHealth (INITIATIVE eHealth project); Energy industry and energy technology (project EOS - energy storage solutions in the Osnabrück-Steinfurt region).
  • Support for founders
    Across the university, company start-ups are supported by the entrepreneurship service of Osnabrück universities. Furthermore, the topics entrepreneurship and company management are also integrated into courses of the Institute of Management and Technology. An annual competition “Third Tuesday - Lingen University Start-Up Meeting” is organised in cooperation with the trade association.
