Special features regarding teachingA special feature of the Architecture teaching in this degree course is the strong relevance to practice which is able to exist in a particularly personal framework, with outstanding teaching staff in small, manageable group sizes. The teaching covers current topics, which often have a social focus and which are always important for future developments, and a very strong emphasis is placed on the practical feasibility of the projects. Therefore, for several years, there has been a programme of self-build projects which demand manual skills following precise planning and which require a very particular commitment.
Special features regarding the international orientationTeaching in architecture has a very strong international focus. There is ongoing cooperation with foreign higher education institutions/universities. There are always 7 to 10 incoming participants from abroad. Students of Architecture themselves make less use of the Erasmus study exchange programme as they already go abroad as part of the work placement during the Bachelor's degree course or due to international project collaborations, particularly in the development cooperation with South Africa. Excellent exhibitions and international speakers greatly enhance study.
Equipment of the work places2 rooms each with 17 PCs for CAD teaching, visualisation, etc. used jointly with civil engineers; Model-making workshop with modern equipment (3D plotters, CNC milling machine...); Model-making room; Spacious auditorium, which is used by all students for
Special features regarding research and developmentThe Architecture degree courses are particularly interested in simple (and therefore affordable and socially compatible) construction methods and concepts and implement these in an exemplary manner in the 1 . projects (e.g. wooden pavilion for palliative medicine at the Klagenfurt regional hospital, building schools in South Africa). The second focus of the degree courses in architecture is building in rural areas.
Other special featuresIn addition to the compulsory excursions, there are also other optional excursions for different subjects; International project weeks with other universities in Germany and abroad; Cooperation with "Architekturhaus Kärnten" for architectural activities (exhibitions, podium discussions,...); Further information: https://www.facebook.com/BauingenieurwesenArchitektur?ref=hl
