Special features regarding teachingTeaching takes place primarily in seminar-style classes that combine lectures with practical exercises. In addition, there are seminars and projects as separate forms of teaching. Many courses are carried out in small groups with intensive supervision. The range of optional required subjects allows for specialisation in various areas and thus an individual specialisation. The extensive research activities in the department enhance teaching with current content and give students contact to research early on.
-
Special features regarding the international orientationOnly optional compulsory courses are planned for the sixth study semester to create a window for studying at a university abroad. There are partnerships with various foreign partner universities in the department. Students are involved in international projects in the framework of teaching projects and final theses.
-
Special features regarding the equipmentThe department’s technical equipment is state-of-the-art. Due to the high number of research projects and projects funded by third parties, the department has excellent laboratory equipment in Photogrammetry, Industrial Measurement Technology and in Geodesy. In addition, students have access to a laboratory for virtual worlds with high-quality hardware and software for computer graphic applications.

The high number of projects funded by third parties in the field of photogrammetry and 3D measurement technology is particularly interesting for the degree course. Further research areas include Geo-informatics, Industrial Measurement Engineering and Geodesy. The teaching unit currently supervises eight cooperative doctorates;
-
Support for foundersThe Institute for Entrepreneurship and Innovation (UGI) has set itself the goal of encouraging and providing qualified support for student start-ups. Ideas/creative workshops for product development and events for people interested in founding a company (e.g. Start-up Day and Regular Start-Up Meeting) are offered on a regular basis.
