Further information provided by the department

  • Special features regarding teaching
All Business Administration programmes are highly interdisciplinary; Special features of “Business Administration Plus” (i.e. general Business Administration and specialisation); Practical application of theory; Close interaction with corporate practice (e.g. exciting excursions, corporate practice projects); Innovative learning methods (learning through experience, e.g. ShopLab, e-learning); Individual guidance by young and motivated professors; Modern learning environment on newly built campus.
  • Special features regarding the international orientation
International training is very important at the HRW. It is our aim that as many HRW students as possible have the opportunity to spend part of their studies abroad. This can, for example, be a semester abroad or work placement. We attach great importance to the quality of our partner institutions. The focus of EWM is on “International Water Problems”. A major research project with universities in Iran, Egypt and Indonesia is currently under way. Engineering-Energy Management students can complete stays abroad in Asia or Latin America.
  • Common partner universities for exchange
Université Catholique de Lille / France; Riga Technical University / Latvia; Montanuniversität Leoben / Austria; Opole University of Technology / Poland; Istanbul Aydin University / Turkey; Óbuda University / Hungary; Universidade de Sao Paulo / Brazil; University of Shanghai for Science and Technology (USST)/ Shanghai; Kookmin University / Korea; Swiss German University / Indonesia
  • Special features regarding the equipment
Two technical departments for simulation tests; Varied work with Excel in different modules; Two labs where students can apply what they have learnt; Databases (selection): WISOnet, ProQuest, various e-books, Statista, Hoppenstedt. The university has a well-stocked library for country and cultural analyses. A country-analytical project room for emerging markets is planned for the future.
  • Special features regarding research and development
Third-party-funded projects on various topics; lab/technical department available for the IDM degree course.
  • Website with further information on research activities
  • Support for founders
The course coordinator in charge of EWM has spun off the consultancy MOcons GmbH & Co.KG together with a co-worker. Together with responsibility for the HRW’s key research area “Water Economics and Water Management”, the timeliness and practical relevance of the teaching content is thus ensured. In addition, this allows for support for specific start-up considerations.
  • Other special features
In the EWM programme, practical relevance is of immense importance. For example, the 4th semester includes a lecture series where, over time, more than 75 high-profile corporate, government, consultancy and political representatives have presented on their work on the basis of a current topic. This is to give students a taste of the direction in which they may want to specialise based on their choice of electives and the block practical.
