Special features regarding teachingCombined degree course, i.e. in addition to self-study phases (70% of the course), practical attendance phases are conducted every second Saturday; learning letters: The course contents, which are traditionally the subject of lectures, are conveyed in the collaborative course via didactically prepared self-study media (learning letters); Moodle is the central electronic communication platform for students among themselves and between students and lecturers, with chats, blogs and teaching materials.
Special features regarding the international orientationEach year a major international excursion of around 10 days is organised (destinations: USA, Canada, China, Singapore, Vietnam, South Africa ...). A one-day seminar on economic exchange, cultural differences in behaviour, education systems, transport and infrastructure serves as orientation. Students get to visit international companies, chambers of commerce, embassies and universities. The faculties of the two universities cooperate with numerous partner universities.
Special features regarding the equipmentWell-equipped technology and IT laboratories (internships in small groups, independent execution and evaluation of experiments); library with engineering research options (e.g. DIN standards); all lecture rooms have projectors, computers, laptop connections; many public computer workstations with scanning and copying options; excellently equipped libraries; numerous online databases; language laboratories.
Special features regarding research and developmentAs part of the market research for the department, marketing studies are carried out annually for the combined degree course in Industrial Engineering. Further key research areas of the Faculty are quality management, Lean Six Sigma and business intelligence.

Other special featuresAccording to a survey among employers in North Rhine-Westphalia in 2016, almost 90% of employers would recommend the combined degree courses Industrial Engineering (Bachelor) and Technical Business Administration (MBA) to their employees, and almost 100% of them would support their employees in pursuing these degrees. In addition, the training-integrated version of the Bachelor in Industrial Engineering is of interest to employers.
