  • Special features regarding teaching
A "pioneering role" in the area of energy reform can only be played if solid training opportunities are offered. The Hochschule Ruhr West contributes with the subject "Energy and Environmental Engineering". By integrating current case studies in the courses, sustainable thinking and action is encouraged and advanced among the students. In particular, the aim is for industry standards to be recognised by teachers but also by students and incorporated into teaching.
  • Special features regarding the international orientation
International training is very important at the HRW. It is our aim that as many HRW students as possible have the opportunity to spend part of their studies abroad. This can, for example, be a semester abroad or work placement. We therefore attach great importance to the quality of our partner institutions. The STEP.INternational programme offers a particular incentive to acquire international skills. The students can obtain a certificate which attests to special international commitment.
  • Exchange universities for stay abroads
Riga Technical University, Montan Universität Leoben, Opole University of Technology, Universidad del País Vasco, Universidad de León, Nationale Technische Universität „Kiewer Polytechnisches Institut Ihor Sikorskyj", Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais
  • Special features regarding the equipment
The laboratories of the Energy Systems and Energy Management institute are used for practical training. They are constantly being expanded in the context of research contracts. They offer an excellent platform for cooperation between industry, business and universities. In addition, application-oriented products and systems can be tested and developed in the institute's very well equipped technical centre. The aim is to strengthen the links between the decentralised energy supply systems with a wide variety of users (keyword: Hardware in the Loop).
  • Special features regarding research and development
Decentralised energy conversion and application technology as well as related energy management developments form the focus of the research budget. Beyond that, IT is the key to flexibility in the energy industry. The institute is excellently prepared for this with its on-site activities.
