  • Special features regarding teaching
    The degree course is mainly taught by professors from the F. A. Finger Institute for Materials Science (FIB) at Bauhaus University. This means that there are many practicals in very well-equipped laboratories. Study and project work and master’s theses take an academic approach to real-life tasks in construction in terms of causal research and materials development. The most state-of-the-art equipment is used for material analysis, some of which is unique in Europe.

    The F. A. Finger Institute is an internationally recognised research and teaching institution with extensive international contacts and a high proportion of international students and staff. The institute is an international leader in the field of mineral building materials.
  • Special features regarding the equipment
    The F.A. The Finger-Institute is equipped with state-of-the-art technical facilities for testing and analysing building materials, such as: Nano-computer tomograph, nuclear magnetic resonance spectrometer, various scanning electron microscopes, atomic emission spectrometers, various mechanical testing machines etc.
  • Special features regarding research activities
    The department conducts basic and practical research projects in the fields of construction chemistry, polymer materials, concrete and mortar, wood building materials, building material recycling, building analysis, gypsum building materials, mineralogy and cement chemistry.

    Interested parties receive support from "neudeli", the start-up service of Bauhaus University, Weimar.
