Support for foundersThe Kassel University is a founders' university subsidised by EXIST funds. Teaching and support of start-ups is seen as an interdisciplinary task and supported, both in personnel and organisational terms, by the research and teaching centre on entrepreneurial thinking and action. Six subject areas of the Faculty are active in the start-up research and teaching.
Characteristics of assistance to differently abled personsThe university is a member of the Inclusive Universities in Hesse network. The service centre "Study and Disability" of the Kassel University offers subject-specific advice and support for anything to do with the topic of study and disability. All programmes of the department provide individual equalisation of disadvantages with respect to courses and exams. The “preferential access” project allows students with health issues, family care responsibilities or children priority access to courses with restricted attendance.
Characteristics of diversity advancementThe Kassel University has successfully completed the "Promoting Diversity" diversity audit of the Donors' Association for the Promotion of Science and Humanities in Germany. It sees itself as a gender-sensitive, family-oriented, open, inclusive and cross-cultural university. It views the diversity of its members as a productive resource and aims to prevent discrimination on the basis of personal and social characteristics. The Department of Economic Sciences has implemented a decentralised equality concept in order to enshrine diversity in teaching and learning as well as in the promotion of staff.
Other special featuresThe department has established a joint guidance and co-ordination concept for all its degree courses, to ensure that teaching runs smoothly with efficient structures for academic guidance and course coordination.
