Special features regarding teachingAs a subject area, we want both the content and methods to carefully and consistently explore new paths, and we train young researchers to coordinate management tasks within commercial enterprises and relevant areas of Public Administration concerned with construction, real estate and infrastructure.
Special features regarding the international orientationOur special strong point is our continuously growing international network of research and industry partners from various stakeholder groups in construction, real estate and infrastructure sectors, where we participate in line with our objectives just as consistently as we utilise it for our transdisciplinary work. The Knowledge Centre @ Weimar was established as a Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) entity in 2002 as part of an international network of six universities and industry partners around the globe of great quality.

Special features regarding research activitiesOur sphere of activity comprises the company as well as the different fields of activity within the value-chain matrix of buildings and structural facilities with their three dimensions: Type/intended use (property, infrastructure), life cycle (planning, construction, finance, investment, acceptance, operation), tasks within the various life cycle phases. As a research institution, we predominantly aim to initiate orders and are concerned with including demand-oriented, applied research within the scope of our overall strategy.

Characteristics of assistance to differently abled personsStudents with disabilities and/or chronic illness can apply for equalisation of disadvantages. The specific requirements of students who, due to their special circumstances, are limited in their options to organise their studies, are taken into account where the organisation of the curriculum, including teaching and learning formats, is concerned. The “Studying with a Disability” work group at the Bauhaus University Weimar also provides students with disabilities or chronic illness with specific advisory services.
Characteristics of diversity advancementBalance among academic staff as well as internal and external doctoral students with respect to men and women, as well as among international doctoral students. Compulsory semester abroad for Management [Construction Real Estate Infrastructure] and KC@W as contact and support point for international students and international doctoral candidates, as well as for German students looking for a semester abroad. Other special featuresA particular strength of ours is our continuously growing network, consisting of: Academic partners at the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar as well as at other universities and research institutions in Germany and abroad; Representatives from the various "stakeholder" groups within Construction, Property and Infrastructure Management, which we contribute to within the scope of our objective as consistently as we do for our inter-disciplinary work.
