Special features regarding the international orientationThe Hamm-Lippstadt University has partnerships around the world and participates in exchange programmes in connection with Erasmus and summer schools at various universities. Most of the programmes require a semester or work placement abroad in the 5th semester (without extending the regular study period), while the other programmes allow for an optional semester abroad; some courses are offered in English; Business Administration, for example, offers an interdisciplinary specialisation “International Studies” (with focus on “Spanish” and “Chinese”).

Special features regarding the equipmentModern laboratories and equipment of the seminar rooms and lecture halls, especially in the area of “Design”: 3D printers as well as modern PC pools, software tools for design and simulation.

Special features regarding research and developmentA special feature of all research projects is the interdisciplinarity that results from the organisational structure with 4 interdisciplinary departments. Rooms / laboratories are not assigned to people, departments or departments, but to task areas. Research projects frequently have high practical relevance.

Support for foundersAt its Lippstadt premises, HSHL offers the Master’s programme “Technical Entrepreneurship and Innovation”, which is of special interest to prospective entrepreneurs. The topic is dealt with in a variety of ways. A business ideas competitions for students is held and start-up grants are available for students as well as additional contact points such as the Entrepreneurclub, the Science 2 Business Lab and a consulting company for students. The HSHL is a partner in the joint project StartUP.InnoLab, and a cooperation partner in the non-profit initiative STARTUP TEENS and offers a comprehensive network.

Other special featuresWe are still a young university with excellent equipment and state-of-the-art facilities (lecture halls and labs) and numerous study areas (for group or single work) in the new buildings which we moved into in 2014 on our double campus in Hamm and Lippstadt. We offer market-oriented and practice-related courses, openness, tolerance, team orientation and high demands from the start. Existing partnerships offer many possibilities for innovation.
