Special features regarding teachingThe guiding principle of the dual (work-study) programmes of the Dual/Cooperative Studies faculty at the Berlin School of Economics and Law (HRW) is the consistent integration of theory and practice. The programme provides an academic and practical education. The Faculty’s dual/cooperative programmes are characterised by the fact that the theory and skills that students acquire are consolidated and applied in practical phases from the first semester. It is also characterised by small study groups (30 persons), high quality standards and a variety of specialisations.
Special features regarding the international orientationInternationality is a defining element of our university profile and the HWR Berlin cooperates in 176 active partnerships in research and teaching with colleges and universities from all over the world. Our partner universities offer a wide range of exchange opportunities for students and academics. In four English-language dual study programmes (international programme with appropriate focus), we offer both German and foreign students a degree with excellent international perspectives.

Special features regarding the equipmentThe Faculty of Dual/Cooperative Studies has a total of eight modern laboratories that can be used by students across all subject areas. The IT laboratory is an innovative PC laboratory, where the practical use of database systems can be practised using various installed databases. The Multimedia and Communication Technology lab offers students PC, Mac and SGI workstations equipped with software and hardware as well as a special audio and video editing suite. WiFi is available throughout the campus.
Special features regarding research and developmentThe Berlin School of Economics and Law stands out for its intensive and varied research. The school’s research concept sets out the principles of research funding and promotion, which is open to all researchers at the school. The HWR Berlin has a publicly accessible, web-based research database through which publications, research projects and cooperation partners can be searched and found.
Support for foundersAccording to the "Gründungsradar 2018", the HWR Berlin is the leader in three of four rating categories. Among the universities with 5,000 to 15,000 students, it is fourth in the overall ranking as the best university of applied sciences in Germany and in the start-up metropolis, it shares first place with the Free University of Berlin. As a start-up university, the HWR Berlin supports the development of entrepreneurial personalities of tomorrow & offers a Bachelor's degree in Business start-up and Succession and the MBA Entrepreneurship and Innovation.
