  • Special features regarding teaching
The Business Informatics programmes provide a solid education in computer science. All courses are supplemented by intensively supervised practical sessions and projects in small groups. The training is practice-oriented and is enriched by a practical semester and practical projects at companies. The transfer of new research findings to teaching is guaranteed by the close integration of applied research and teaching.
  • Special features regarding the international orientation
The Faculty places special emphasis on partnerships in English-speaking regions, as well as on exchange programmes with Asia and Latin America. Student and staff mobility is encouraged in multiple ways by the international representatives of the programmes and the university’s International Office.
  • Special features regarding the equipment
The Computer Science courses operate joint labs with different subject areas. This covers system-related topics from Wireless LANs, Distributed Systems, System Programming and Home Automation, Software Engineering through to application-oriented problems in Digital Image Processing and Visualisation, Computer Vision and Mixed Reality, Mobile Applications and Enterprise Content Management. Likewise, six computer rooms are available for practical courses and independent practice.
  • Special features regarding research and development
The research projects are combined under the key research area “Intelligent Systems for People and Technology”. This reflects a strong point of the Faculty: Interdisciplinary and comprehensive consideration of practical research questions. The research focuses on intelligent, i.e. secure, IT systems that are easy to use and that adapt to the individual characteristics and environments of the users. The topic of the key research area is characterised by a high degree of timeliness and social relevance. IT systems today permeate all aspects of life.

  • Characteristics of diversity advancement
Equal opportunities, gender equality as well as students and staff members with special circumstances are supported in particular at the RheinMain University. The university-wide facilities of Central Student Services, the International Office, the Psychotherapeutic Counselling Centre and the Career Service promote diversity among university members.
  • Other special features
Computer Science is situated together with the fields of Media Management and Design in a joint department so that interdisciplinary projects can also be easily implemented.
