  • Special features regarding teaching
    All programmes are interdisciplinary in nature. Professors come from eight different disciplines and have extensive practical experience. Practical semesters, ideally also abroad, are encouraged and integrated into the curriculum. Apart from industry-specific characteristics of the programmes, the teaching of professional key skills is an integral part of the curriculum. Individual key areas can be chosen by way of elective modules. These modules in particular are taught by many lecturers recruited from companies of the industries in question.

  • Special features regarding the equipment
    Various subject-specific online databases and e-books can be accessed free of charge. Students can make procurement suggestions, a high percentage of which is also implemented. The library provides 16 PC stations for literature research. There are five other PC pools with 135 PC workstations and printers, scanners, etc. The Faculty has a logistics as well as a language and video lab. Numerous special programs (e.g. SAP, simulation programs) are integrated into the teaching.

    The Faculty focuses in particular on international research topics. The Faculty includes two institutes. 3 cooperative doctorates in the period 2013-2015.

  • Support for founders
    Start-ups are promoted explicitly through Entrepreneurship Consulting. The university has also launched an ideas competition.
  • Characteristics of assistance to differently abled persons
    People with disabilities and chronic illness are supported before, during and after their studies. The Koblenz University has a special liaison for people with disabilities. Advice is provided individually, and finding a solution for the benefit of the student is always the objective. Equalisation of disadvantages for exams and assignments can be granted if certain requirements are met. There are special brochures on these topics on the website.
  • Characteristics of diversity advancement
    Lecturers regularly attend professional development courses regarding student-centred teaching and incorporate many different teaching methods into their lectures. A workshop on “Managing Cultural Diversity” is held annually for international lecturers and students. Stays abroad of Faculty members are encouraged, as a way to actively support a change of perspective. The Faculty participates each year in the design of Theme Week, an event creating awareness about diversity. Refugees are integrated into classes and practicals.
  • Other special features
    The programmes are interdisciplinary in nature, focused on logistics, e-business, the health and social economy and sports management. The transition from the Bachelor’s to the consecutive Master’s is structured in such manner that students who still lack some Bachelor’s credits can already start taking classes of the Master’s programme.
