Special features regarding teachingThe course is offered jointly by two departments with an excellent reputation. Academic responsibility lies with the Institute of Computer Science in the Department of Computer Science and Mathematics with 24 computer science professorships. In addition, there is the entire range of courses in the Faculty of Business and Economics with 74 professorships, in particular the Department of Information Systems and Information Management. This enables a selection of well-suited lectures, seminars and internships and is the basis for a wide range of interesting and challenging topics for Master's theses.
Special features regarding the international orientationAn internationally renowned college of scientists offers the highest training quality and individual specialisation opportunities. Stays abroad during the course are actively supported, be it through a generous recognition practice or through targeted support programmes such as Erasmus with partner universities in 15 different European countries. It is also common practice and advice is recommended that students carry out internships and semesters abroad on their own initiative.

Special features regarding the equipmentThe students have 90 places in two learning centres with WIFI equipment and 50 PCs in the Fischer rooms and computer laboratories. There are free licenses for software via the Microsoft Campus Agreement, as well as for Matlab, SPSS and SAS.
Special features regarding research activitiesThe department is active in numerous national and international research associations. For example, it provides the spokesman for the DFG Collaborative Research Centre "Algorithm for Big Data". One member of the college is responsible for the energy-efficient high-performance computer L-CSC, which is operated by the GSI Helmholtz Centre. Several EU projects are underway, including an ERC grant. The FIAS (Frankfurt Institute for Advanced Studies) and the Leibnitz Institute SAFE (Sustainable Architecture for Finance in Europe) are closely associated with the department.
Support for foundersWith the Goethe Unibator, Goethe University offers active support for students, academic staff and alumni who want to make the move towards their own company. The aim is to promote entrepreneurial thinking and acting at the university through a founding culture. The Unibator forms a bridge between science and business and enables innovative ideas from science to enter the market successfully, including through the provision of office space, advice, supervision for existing start-up grants and networking events.
Other special featuresFrankfurt as a traditional trade fair and trade city has a strong demand for IT knowledge. The excellent networking of the institutes with companies in the Greater Frankfurt region offers many opportunities for entry into professional practice. The student life and the central location of the metropolis Frankfurt is a good argument for many to choose to study at the Goethe University.
